Day 4 - London, ON to Muskegan, MI

Beautifully clear sky & 18C. Started with top down, earplugs in, on 401 to Sarnia. Border crossing went smoothly - usual question about what the license plate means. We decided to avoid Chicago entirely, so headed due west on I 69 to Flint. The usual awful concrete interstate sections with expansion breaks, but no holes. Just after Flint we tried a state road, US 21, which was incredibly straight and boring for a while, then around St. Johns (sic!) followed a winding river to Muskegan. At Grand Rapids, joined I 96 to Muskegan. Had a great dinner on the "terrace" at the Hearthstone Bistro in Muskegan: I had Arctic Char and Doug the Lake Perch.
After returning to the hotel (Holiday Inn again), we found the elevators out of order. Since we were on the 8th floor, we had a couple of martinis in the bar...
Tomorrow morning we take the ferry to Milwaukee.
